About The Area
Wanapa is located only a five minute drive away from the supermarkets and a seven minute drive from town and the Lac Bai beach and Sorobon beach area. You are surrounded by nature and this gives the property a very peaceful feeling. The mangroves are around the corners and at Sorobon, you will find the best windsurf/wind foil spot in the Caribbean. Are you an aviation enthusiast? From our rooftop you will have the best view of the few departing larger airplanes from Bonaire airport. Don't worry, it's only 2 to 5 flights per day and it will never disturb your nighttime rest.
Hotel Wanapa: The filming location of Augurk aan Zee
Featured in the Dutch film Augurk aan Zee Hotel Wanapa is proud to have been the filming location of the Dutch movie Augurk aan Zee during the month of February 2025, set to be released in cinemas and on Prime Video in November 2025. What makes this film even more exciting are the renowned actors starring in it. Te zien in de Nederlandse speelfilm Augurk aan Zee Hotel Wanapa is er trots op dat het in februari 2025 het decor vormde voor de opnames van de Nederlandse speelfilm Augurk aan Zee, die in november 2025 in de bioscopen en op Prime Video zal verschijnen. De film draait namelijk om het personage Hotel Wanapa zelf – waardoor ons hotel niet alleen als locatie dient, maar ook echt een hoofdrol vertolkt. Wat deze productie extra bijzonder maakt, is de indrukwekkende cast vol bekende namen uit de Nederlandse filmwereld, waaronder Tibor Lukács, Jelka van Houten, Olga Zuiderhoek, Monic Hendrickx, Tim Haars, Peter van den Begin en Rico Verhoeven.
A total of 18 out of 22 shooting days took place on our island, and the hotel plays a key role in the story.
The film revolves around the character of Hotel Wanapa, making our hotel not just a setting, but a star in its own right.
The cast includes some well-known names in Dutch cinema, such as Tibor Lukács, Jelka van Houten, Olga Zuiderhoek, Monic Hendrickx, Tim Haars, Peter van den Begin, and Rico Verhoeven.
A large number of these actors also stayed at our hotel during the filming, adding to the unique connection between the film and our place.
Van de 22 draaidagen vonden er maar liefst 18 plaats op Bonaire, waarbij ons hotel een centrale rol speelt in het verhaal.
Veel van deze acteurs verbleven tijdens de opnames ook bij ons in het hotel, wat zorgde voor een unieke en inspirerende sfeer waarin film en werkelijkheid samenkwamen.
“The hotel is literally an oasis of peace where the hummingbirds fly around and the iguanas watch you by the pool. We have experienced the personal approach and help in selecting fun trips and good restaurants. The breakfast, italian night with fresh pasta/pizza and 5-course menu in the restaurant were delicious! We can only praise our stay, we have enjoyed very much!”
